Submarine

In January 2024 I co-founded Submarine Art Ltd, an independent Art and Design school based in Edinburgh.

Having loved my experiences at art school I wanted to create a space where we could offer entry level creative classes and clubs to kids and adults, exploring lots of modern creative subjects including digital art, illustration, graphic design, animation, game design and street art as well as teaching traditional drawing, painting and sculpture skills in a fun and inclusive way.

During this time I was owner, creative director and lead tutor of the school. My roles and achievements include:

• Designing the studio space and brand identity for the school,

• Creating and leading full time termly programmes of creative courses and clubs for kids and adults

• Building a team of staff and tutors

• Teaching over 1000 classes across a range of creative subjects, with 500+ young students coming from 44 different schools around Edinburgh and the surrounding areas as well as hundreds of adults joining us for courses, drop in sessions and workshops.

• Founding and designing a community magazine called Submazine which showcased all the amazing creative talents of the students at the school across 3 issues.

It was one of the most creative and rewarding experiences of my life and hopefully we helped inspire lots of future artists and designers.

We closed the doors to the original model of Submarine in April 2026. The business was bought in May 2026 and continues to run under new management.
